In the 1980 season, when it was supposed to be Johnson’s rookie season, he took over Kareem Abdul’s spot and led the Lakers to an impressive victory. He scored a total of 42 points with 15 rebounds and 7 assists in Game 6 of the 1980 NBA Finals. He consequently won his first NBA championship ring and also won his first NBA Finals MVP.
